Location. The Half Moon is surrounded by 400 acres of palm trees, fragrant gardens and a wetland reserve on Jamaica's northern coast in Rose Hall, Montego Bay, Jamaica. The resort offers private, white-sand, crescent beaches. The historic Rose Hall Great House is two kilometers away.
Features. This secluded, Georgian style resort has welcomed guests for over 50 years. Gourmet dining is featured at six restaurants, including Italian cuisine, formal high tea, Indian and Thai fare, an English pub and beachside barbecues. The Seagrape Terrace is shaded by almond trees overlooking Sunset Beach. The Sugar Mill features al fresco dining, contemporary Jamaican cuisine and live music. Several informal bars are located throughout the property. The resort offers over 26,000 square feet of meeting space, a business center and a Cyber Lounge with wireless Internet access for a fee. The championship Half Moon Golf Course was designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr. Horseback riding is available at the resort's equestrian centre. An exclusive dolphin lagoon offers a variety of dolphin encounters. The resort features 13 lit tennis courts, squash courts, giant chess, bocci ball, croquet lawn, bicycle trails and an 18-hole putting green. Outdoor pools at the resort include the Oleander Pool, an Olympic-size lap pool and the Hibiscus swim-up bar pool. The resort's health spa and fitness center offers saunas, steam rooms, restorative treatments and a fully equipped nautilus gym. A shopping village is located at the property. This family-friendly resort features a children's center with a two-story, air-conditioned clubhouse, a fish-feeding pond, playground and a thatched playhouse.
Guestrooms. The 419 nonsmoking guestrooms and suites at the Half Moon feature Queen Anne style furnishings. All accommodations feature cable television, dial-up Internet access and refrigerated mini bars. Select rooms offer wireless Internet access. The deluxe suites offer kitchens, and all suites offer separate living areas. Balconies or patios boast garden or sea views. Bathrobes are provided in all units.
Expert Tip. The resort offers sailing, kayaking, snorkeling and pedal boats at the Sunset Beach. Motorized water sports, including parasailing, water skiing and glass bottom boats, are only permitted at Sunrise Beach. The Captain's Watersports and Dive Centre at Sunset Beach offers a variety of water-sport and equipment rentals, lessons, tours and deep-sea fishing charters.
